I really feel like I have lucked out with the trends the past few years. I love all things frilly and feminine, and I think we have brands like LoveShackFancy & Zimmermann to thank for these ultra feminine dresses coming into style. However 70's inspired trends haven't really been my thing, until I started seeing these exaggerated collars coming back.
I remember the 'Peter Pan' collars of the early 2010's that seemed to be on every shirt, dress, and sweater for a few years. And I remember being sad to see the detail fade out of style in favor of edgier looks coming in around 2014 and '15. I was happy to see them popping back up this past spring, and I am happy to see them be more prevalent heading into fall '21!
I'm not so sure I'll be wearing them with the trendy sweater vests and pleated mini skirts, but I am loving them on dresses like this one by ChicWish! I can always count on them to add some trending details to my frilly dresses. I love this one's sort of shirt dress inspired style, with the feminine details of the rose print, tiered ruffle skirt, matching belt, and exaggerated collar. This is more how I will be trying this trend out in my closet!
Anyone else excited to see these collars come back into style?
