January Style Roundup

Hello there!

Long time, no blog post. December is always my favorite month of the year filled with birthday fun, Christmas cheer, and then immediately followed by some post-holiday depression. Throw in a road trip from Minnesota to Texas, and back again while still working a full time job- not a lot of time for penning blog posts!

As a little catch up post, I decided to round up a couple of my favorite outfits I put together this month. In all honesty, I have spent most of my time in Christmas PJS. But when I have gotten dressed, it has been in some outfits I really love!

I have been searching for knitwear that lets me get into the spring mood, while being frozen tundra that is Minneapolis in January. I have to say, my favorite trend going into 2021 is floral embroidery. If I can go ahead and look like someone's grandmother's throw pillows from the early 90's every day of the week, that would be great. In fact, I would love that. I have found some really great options at J.Crew, H&M, Red Dress, ChicWish, and a site that is new to me called Simple Retro.

Along the same lines of that 'grandmillennial chic' look, I've been loving is cardigans. Not just because of the Taylor Swift song, but again something about it that is sort of retro that I can't resist. They'll be adorable with a mock neck top underneath, or tossed over dresses into spring & summer. I even found some cardigans with floral embroidery, which you know absolutely delighted me.

Less of a trend & more of a favorite- Kan Can denim. I got sent this super dark washed pair from Red Dress in the fall for a collab, and they have become my very favorite jeans I own. For a self-proclaimed denim hater, I have quite a few pairs of jeans- and these hands down fit me the best. And best of all they're so stretchy you could do the can can dance in them!

And finally, white booties. These have been trending since last spring I believe, and in my closet they are here to stay. I love how they pair so well with the lighter, feminine outfits in my closet. And they brighten up a cold weather outfit when I want to get into the spring mood. I got a nice pair from Steve Madden for Christmas, but I have still been loving my affordable pair that were under $50. If you're on the fence, or just wanting to try out the trend for yourself- go for the cheaper pair! Mine have been holding up great.

Now I am replacing my lack of Christmas cheer with some for Valentine's Day. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a Hallmark holiday! I'm going to try my hand at some strawberry white chocolate cookies, and if they turn out I'll be sure to share the recipe.
