I think there is something undeniably classic and chic about a red lip, don't you think? I have been a fan of red lipstick ever since I started wearing makeup, my sophomore year of high school. I wanted nothing more than to mimic Taylor Swift's iconic red lip look. However, it took me years to actually perfect that sort of classic, retro red lip. So to save you all the mistakes I had t suffer through, I decided to divulge my best red lip tips.
My first tip actually has nothing to do with the lipstick, but your lips themselves. Before the lipstick, you need a good lip balm. Red lipstick and chapped lips are not a cute look. My favorite lip balm at the moment is by Moroccan Magic! It is an all organic lip balm made of cold-presses Moroccan argon oil and essential oils, and it makes my lips oh-so-smooth without making my red lips slide off! I just put some on when I start doing my makeup, and by the time it's time for lipstick it has soaked in and my lips are super smooth!
Next, get a lip liner. I thought lip liner was a waste of money, until I finally just bought one. The fine, pencil-like tip that lip liners have make it easy to outline your lips, creating a guide for the lipstick you're about to put on. You can find the one I use here!
Lastly, invest in a good matte lipstick. When you are going with such a bold color, you don't want it to be so creamy that it smears all over your face. If you moisturize your lips properly, a matte lipstick shouldn't be uncomfortable. I have linked a few of my favorites here!
