Our Engagement Photo Shoot

Hello there!
I have been getting so many questions about all things wedding! We got engaged in May; Ben proposed with a paper ring so I could pick out my own ring, without ruining the element of surprise. It was the sweetest and most perfect proposal I ever could have hoped for, and we had so much fun looking at rings together after! It took me a few weeks of thinking it over and trying on lots of pretty sparkly things, and my ring just arrived a few weeks ago. And I have not been able to stop staring at it since! So, we have only recently actually started with the beginning stages of planning. We haven't visited a venue, I haven't tried on a dress- but I knew I wanted my older brother to snap some engagement photos while we were on a family road trip to Minnesota.
We decided on Centennial Lakes park in Edina, MN. It is a beautifully landscaped park with an abundance of pretty bridges, benches, and flowers around a small lake. And while it was a hot day in Minnesota, it was gorgeous compared to mid-July Texas heat. There were lots of incredibly gorgeous spots around the lake for all kinds of poses, backgrounds, and candid pictures!

As I mentioned, my older brother Robby took the pictures! He is the man behind the camera at To The Fourth Studios, and I just think he does the most gorgeous work while capturing really special moments. I think the most important thing to keep in mind when finding a photographer is to find someone whose work you like, and they are a person you like. It is hard to get good pictures when you are uncomfortable!I lucked out with my big brother photographer- he kept us laughing the whole time.
I actually picked Ben's outfit out before mine. I had wanted to get him a polka dot, chambray shirt for a while- and this seemed like the perfect excuse. And he is so handsome in it! He wore it with khaki slacks, leather shoes, and a matching leather belt he already had. I wanted a white dress, of course. I toyed with the idea of a maxi, but I ultimately wanted the dress I wore to have a lot of movement. I love a flowy dress, and they add so much to pictures! And this one ended up being perfect, and not too hot.

This collection of pictures that Robby captures were everything I was hoping for and more. Plenty to pick from for save the dates, invites, and prints for my apartment. It is just such a happy and exciting time, so why not capture it at every moment you can?
til next time,
Emily
