shop my whole outfit here! Hello there!
I have entirely fallen in love with midi and maxi length dresses this year. I don't know if it is the years of consuming Julia Engel's blog content, or it is just something that has come with a little bit of age- but I just think there is something so feminine and classy about these longer hemlines. When looking at the skirts and dresses in my wardrobe, all of my favorites hit just below my knees or longer. I still have so much love for mini dresses, but midis and maxis are what I have been reaching for this season. When I happily pulled this pretty little number from ChicWish out of its bag when it arrived, my mom excitedly informed me it looked very "Little House on the Prairie". And you know what, I wasn't even offended. One of my favorite bloggers, Jessica of Frapps & Frills, coined the term 'grandma chic' and I think this dress falls into that category. And I love it for that very reason! The ditsy rose floral print that adorns this dress is very 'shabby chic', which is always an aesthetic I have been a sucker for. The blue is almost antique-looking in color, and it makes it such a sweet summertime piece. While this dress is very vintage in its print, I love the modern details it has in its silhouette. The faux-wrap, tiered skirt, and ruffled sleeves keep this dress sweet, young, and fun! And surprisingly, the fabric is light and stretchy, so it is perfect for even the hottest of summer Texas days. I paired it with some little white heeled sandals, my go-to Kate Spade mini Margaux bag, some pearl drop earrings, and a knotted headband with some gold piped detailing to add a little bit of trendiness to the ensemble. Who else is loving these 'grandma chic' dresses that have been popping up lately? til next time, Emily
