Hey guys!
Looking for a sweet little treat to bring to Thanksgiving that's not pie? Or something to bring to go next to the pie? Well look no further! These little cookies are the perfect bite of salty, sweet, crunchy, chewy, chocolate-caramely deliciousness! If that sounds right up your ally- then just keep reading. What you'll need: -1 cup butter (2 sticks) -1/2 cup sugar -1/2 cup brown sugar -1 egg -2 3/4 cup flour -2 tsp vanilla extract -1 batch of my Simple Salted Caramel -Candy melting chocolate What to do: -Start off by whipping together your 2 sticks of slightly softened butter, the sugars, vanilla, and egg until light and fluffy. -Next add your flour slowly as to avoid any "poof" situations, and keep stirring until it's all mixed together. -Next roll out your cookies, and stick them in the freezer while your oven pre-heats to 350. -Once your oven is heated stick your chilled cookies in for 10-15 minutes, or until they're golden brown. -Now it's time for the "thumbprint" part- take either your thumb or a teaspoon and make little indentations on the tops of the cookies. -Once your cookies all have been sufficiently smooshed, put the caramel in the little well you've created. I'd suggest putting the caramel in a plastic baggy, warming it up for 10 seconds, then cutting a corner off of the bag and squeezing the caramel into the thumbprint. -Finally, warm up your candy chocolate as instructed on the package and drizzle that on the top. Make sure it is candy chocolate, because if not the chocolate won't harden up again and will lead to a very "sticky situation" if I do say so myself. And that's it! This fun take on a classic cookie is sure to not only impress, but bring smiles as well. And while I always am a fan of from-scratch baking, if you're feeling lazy you could always opt for store bought cookie dough and caramel to make this recipe even easier (I won't tell). Happy Baking! My mouth is getting so watery after look at these cookies and it sure seems to be a great thing to know about this recipe. I was just going to make them at home and it is worth of having in snacks with milk.
