I am sure you have seen a ginger jar. If by chance you haven't, because I hadn't until a few months ago, they are ceramic jars with intricate floral designs in shade of blue. They came from China, originally to transport spices ( thus 'ginger jars'), until people decided they were so pretty they would repurpose them as decor. I just adore the intricate, floral designs in the prettiest blues. The moment I saw this dress from ChicWish, it reminded me of those charming little ginger jars.
This is a very classic, Emily dress. Eyelet lace, embroidered trimming, flutter sleeves, and a tiered skirt. When I went shopping for wedding dresses, I figured out the phrase to describe how I want to feel in a dress- like a pretty cupcake. And this one makes me feel like a pretty, ginger jar-inspired cupcake! It is so lightweight and breezy, perfect for dressing up or wearing around the house. I have been busting out some of my "fancier" dresses to wear at home, since here in Texas COVID is still out of control and I am spending a lot of time at home. But pretty dresses make it better!
I styled it here with my favorite denim blue espadrilles from Rialto, which brings out the blue in the dress just perfectly! Topped it off with some of my favorite James Avery jewelry, and my pearl bag to sort of really round out that ginger jar look. My older brother/photographer even told me I looked like "that classic blue China plates", so I guess it translated? You tell me!
