Channeling Plaza Princess: Affordable Tweed Elegance with a Girly Twist

I am loving the rise of classic, preppy, tweed styles I've been seeing this season. While Pinterest has coined this intersection of classic and chic the 'Old Money Aesthetic', I much prefer the more playful take of 'Plaza Princess' harkening back to NYC it-girl Eloise at The Plaza. This 'Plaza Princess' offshoot adds in a few more girly and girl-ish elements, which I am always a fan of.

This whole outfit is from Lulus, making this a more affordable take on the typically luxe trend. The starting point of the outfit was the black & metallic tweed skirt, and the black lady jacket. I thought the two pieces coordinated together nicely, and broke things up a little bit from the topical matching skirt & jacket combos I've been seeing. This is a lot more black than I typically go for- but I added back in my feminine touches with the pussyboy blouse, polka-dotted tights, metallic flats & pop of red from my 'archival' circa 2013 Kate Spade bag. 

What's nice about these tweed sets is they can be broken up & styled in a myriad of ways. I'd try the skirt more casually with a white sweater and some knee-high boots, and the lady jacket over a white tee & paired with jeans and sneakers into spring. But for now, I'm loving them paired together for a dressier holiday look!
