I don't know when a headband and dress became my go-to combo, but at this point my outfits don't feel finished until they're topped off with a headband. You know that saying take off one accessory before you leave the house ? I'm more of a look in the mirror one last time & add the embellished headband sort of gal.
I styled it with my white booties to make it more autumnal, and paired with my Kate Spade top-handle bag. Personally, I think it is so pretty among the falling leaves!
Victoria Dunn brought out a couple more matching dress & headband combos, along with some pretty embellished velvet headbands that'll be so fun for the holidays. Sorry, too soon?

A few weeks ago I learned about French Toile, today I looked into Chinoiserie. I had no idea how to pronounce it, but apparently it's "chi-noi-se-rie" ! Chinoiserie is the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and other East Asian artistic traditions, especially in the decorative arts. Until recently I had only seen it in homewares & wallpaper, but I was excited to see the print pop into fashion much like the Toile.
I paired the outfit with my trusty Kate Spade Margaux bag, J.Crew belt, and these fun Mary Jane heels by Sam Edelman to play up the vintage elements in the dress.
It's funny to think about when I lived in Texas, I was yearning for fall fashion once September rolled around. I'd be so excited to pull out my chunky knits, jeans, and booties to have a little 'Christian girl autumn' revival. Now that I'm in Minnesota where it actually starts feeling like fall in September, I'm pushing dress season into October.
I paired it with my favorite little mauve bag from Kate Spade, and this slim headband by Lele Sadoughi for a little sparkle!
Emily Hello there! Happy Midnights release month! Or October. Either way, I'll be counting down the days until the 21st, and I will be wearing this dress to celebrate.
I paired it here with some coordinating gold heels, and this pearl-embellished headband. I have seen some cute celestial hair pins that would go well with it if you really want to commit to the look. I'm in an XS here, and they have the dress in sizes XXS- 4XL!
Emily Hello there! Soaking up the last bits of sunshine here in Minnesota before the traditional October snowfall. Do I have any weddings or events to attend this fall? No- but if I did, I would wear this dress!
As a fair warning, this dress is long. I'm 5'4 on a good day, and was wearing 3 inch heeled booties here. So if you're tall, you'll be in luck! My fellow shorter gals, it's time to break out your platform heels. But this skirt is so pretty with it's movement! Would be so pretty for a wedding guest dress, or some fall family photos.
Emily Hello there! This 'French Toile' print has been one of my favorite emerging trends throughout the year, but I have to be honest I had no idea what the term really meant. So today was the day I actually did a little bit of a Google search! Apparently 'toile', pronounced 'twall', actually means cloth in French. But in terms of the print, it refers to a highly detailed, decorative print featuring repeating, monochromatic illustrations of pastoral scenes- inspired by Chinese porcelain. So in short, a girly print with little animals and florals. Even shorter, very Emily! While the print was traditionally blue or black on white linen, I've seen all sorts of variations as this print has been popping up more and more. This pink one by Victoria Dunn has to be my favorite to date!
This is part of VD's Secret Garden Collection, and this 'Songbird' print is the sweetest mix of birds and florals. My mom has always loved birds, which has given me a soft spot for this dress. I texted her these pictures and she said, "OMG are those birds?", for context. I styled it here with some ballet flat mules that are on sale for $24, my little blush Kate Spade bag, and this slim headband Lele Sadoughi was kind enough to send over. Emily Hello there!
Smocking? Puff sleeves? Florals? It's a yes from me. I'm nothing if not consistent? This dress is actually part of Red Dress Boutique's 'Dream Drop' designed by their founder, Diana. It was inspired by the dreamy streets & florals of Charleston, SC. I've never been to Charleston, but if it's any bit as dreamy as the pieces form this drop, I need to plan a visit. I styled this dress with some white booties to give it a little more of an autumnal look, a blushed beige crossbody bag, and a mustard yellow velvet hair bow to coordinate with the florals. The smocking at the bodice also makes it an ideal comfy working-from-home dress for me! Emily Hello there!
Am I the biggest fan of the Hill House Nap Dress? I might be! I've lost count of how many times I've shared them, they are just sort of the most 'me' piece of clothing I've ever found. I also don't have to wear a bra with them, which is always a plus. This green gingham is actually a print they brought out a few years ago, but this was part of their Gingham Re-Edition they released this August. I had actually initially been more excited about the pink gingham, but I was drawn to this green so I went ahead and ordered it. When I got the two dresses in, I ended up loving the green more than the pink. I know, who am I? But I returned the pink, and this Ellie has quickly become one of my most worn dresses. I paired it here with some cap-toe slingback heels, my favorite little pink bag from Kate Spade, and this green bow from Grace & Grandeur. On my more casual days working from home, I've been pairing it with white sneakers, and a cream cardigan. I think this is going to be perfect into fall, and even for the holiday season. Emily Hello there!
This is the only orange I have in my closet. Not because I've never been drawn to the color, by I went to Texas A&M for college and our rival school's color is burnt orange. So over the years, I've sort of trained myself to steer clear of the color. Silly? Very. So I decided to break my little rule for this fun frock by Victoria Dunn. I've followed Vitoria Dunn Designs for a few years now, and have always loved her colorful designs inspired by the southern charm of Charleston, South Carolina. Her designs are adorned with colorful block-prints, and they all make such a fun statement. So when she reached out to work together I was honored, and so excited to add some of her pieces to my closet. This is the 'Folly Flounce' dress in the print Juniper Sunset, which was part of her retro collection. The florals do have that sort of groovy 70's flare to it. I love the full, twirly skirt, puff sleeves, and of course the exaggerated bow-tie waist detail. I styled it with my go-to white sneakers, a retro-inspired top handle bag, and a hair scarf you can't see in these pictures (go going, Emily). Emily Hello there!
While I am clinging on to my frilly little dresses as long as possible, JustFab sent over these white booties and they have gotten me thinking about fall fashion. I love white booties specifically for that summer-to-fall transitional weather when you're ready to start wearing some autumnal looks, but it is still rather warm out. Especially when I lived in Texas, white booties & a dress were my go-to for fall. My favorite way to take my floral dresses from summer to fall is by adding some booties, and a denim jacket. Not exactly groundbreaking, but it works! This maxi dress is from ChicWish, and I thought these florals would be perfect into fall because they do have that slightly more muted tones. This denim jacket is a wardrobe staple of mine I picked up from Old Navy a few years ago, and the bouquet got thrown together from Target. Emily |
